Summertime Baby!

Ahhhh! Summer....don't you just love it? The Pereira's haven't missed a beat. We got off to a busy start and the calendar is already filling up. I like lists....don't you? So here is our summer in list form as well as some pictures to update you on our little lives.

1. Went to New Braunfles with some college gals this past weekend....fun times!

2. Starting work at Hudson's daycare (so I can get a discount on his summer tuition) next week. Good thing is it's only 2 days a week and only for a few hours in the a.m.

3. Scrapbooking retreat with the madre this weekend.

4. Dallas area trip weekend after next.

5. Austin area trip first few days of July.

6. Port Aransas with Herm's family July 6-9.

7. Trying to lose 20 lbs. before August 7th. I started this week, and I'm actually keeping a food journal and everything. I have to go hard core with this or it's not gonna happen.

8. Attempting to plan a craft show in October....lots to do for that over the summer.

9. Somehow work in lesson plans for the fall, and read some professional literature, and TWILIGHT! Stephanie, I broke down and bought your satanic vampire book. I kid. I kid.

So, yeah. That's our summer. Hudson is freaking amazing, and I could seriously kiss his cheeks all day long. He's sleeping well, eating well (as if you can't tell that), and trying to crawl, which I am not excited about because I want him to stay a little bitty baby forever!! He is still fighting ear infections, poor thing, but I think it's on it's way out. We love you all...enjoy the pictures of Hudson's first time in his mini pool. We can't wait to get him in a real one!

Not so sure about this yet...

Everything must go in the mouth!

Look at that adorable face!

I had to get a close up of the rolls...the "outie" is left over from his hernia. It's still kinda cute though. : )

The Baby Bear/Bullfrog

Wanted to share a few pics of the baby bear/bullfrog. Man, he's cute! We are so ready for summer so we can be at home with him. Lately he has been trying really hard to sit up on his own, which just makes him look like a little man. We are currently battling our first ear infection. Mmmm fun! We all got sick this past weekend, which was basically terrible because Hermann was gone for baseball playoffs (Go Trojans!) and didn't get back until 3:30 Sunday morning. Taking care of a 6 month old alone when you have 101 degree fever SUCKS! I'm sure Hudson thought it was the most boring day ever. Thank you Stephanie Loren Shelton for bringing me 3 kinds of chicken noodle soup and 2 ginormous bottles of Sprite. Back to the bullfrog....he's also saying "da da". Sooo cute! He really likes saying it when he's tired. He even whispered it the other day which was hilarious. Sometimes I think he knows he's funny.

Life for us is winding down. Only 2 more weeks of school left for me and 2 and a half for Herm. Herm's team is about to enter the 3rd round of baseball playoffs and he and the other coaches could not be more excited! I am too, but I'm ready to have my husband back. It's been a looooonnngg year with sports. We don't have too many summer plans. A few trips here and there, but other than that I think we are just going to practice relaxing! Have a great week everyone. We love ya!

A Few Milestones...

I've been posting lots of pictures, but I haven't really mentioned what all Hudson has been doing lately. Well, he's definitely got the rolling over things down! We had to start leaving his arms out when he sleeps because he rolls all over the crib. It's funny to find what new position he is in when we wake him in the morning. And yes! You heard it....when we wake him in the morning. More often than not, he is sleeping soundly through the night. Our next step is dropping his 11pm feeding, which I want to start trying to do in a few weeks. I'll let you know how that works out. Hudson is also eating rice cereal and has added carrots, green beans, bananas, and applesauce to his list of foods over the past few weeks. Eating times are always funny. We usually just strip him down, cover his bouncer with old receiving blankets, and enjoy the mess. And of course he is laughing and "talking" as you can see by the last post. I watch that video about every other day by the way. Love it!

Things are going really well if you ask me. Those first few months were kinda rough on me, but I'm definitely starting to feel like myself again which is nice. More pics coming soon. Enjoy your Sunday!

This might be the best thing I've EVER witnessed...

Oh my gosh!!! Hudson makes the second baby that our dog Toby has "taught" how to laugh (Eleanor was the first). We should go on the road with this dog! If you've had a stressful day, watch this and relieve a little stress because This. Is. Amazing. And please ignore the East Texas twang in the background.

I'm an awful blogger these days. Things got pretty hectic around here after the ER trip a couple weeks ago, but it is starting to slow down a bit. We are counting the days until summer that's for sure. Easter weekend was fun, but I was hoping for more quality time with my family. The visits with everyone were just too fast and furious. Hudson did get to meet several of his great aunts and uncles, and cousins which was so fun. He was a ham the whole time, and got lots of comments about how fat his cheeks are. I love those cheeks personally! For whatever reason, I totally forgot to take any pictures of him with my family, but I do have a few to share with you. Take care everyone!

Wearing dad's sunglasses, and the last one is with his new hat. He wasn't too sure about that hat.

Holy Moly!

Oh what craziness!! Here is a recap of this week....

Sunday: arrived back in Waco after a fabulous weekend at a T Bar M marriage retreat. Pictures coming soon!

Monday: Tired, but made it through the day. Hudson slept through the night (which has definitely become a norm thank goodness!)

Tuesday: Still kind of tired, but Hudson slept through the night again which was great, get a call at school from day care that I have to come pick Hudson up because he has "thrown up." Got him home, he was perfectly fine and I am thoroughly convinced his day care workers totally wussed out on me that day.

Wednesday: Hudson is fine, has a "fussy" day at day care, wakes up screaming in the middle fo the night and is completely inconsolable. I still don't know what was wrong unless his belly really was bothering him.

Thursday: Ready for the weekend, middle schoolers are nuts in the spring but somehow I continue to love the little turkeys, Hudson wakes up in the middle of the night not breathing well. He's been congested, so Herm rocks him back to sleep. He wakes up a little stuffy, but nothing abnormal.

Friday: Finally! So glad it's the weekend, fun day at school with my kids. Pick Hudson up. He's fine when I get him, but when I get him home and put him down for a nap, I notice that it sounds like he has lost his voice and he's gasping a little bit. He falls asleep, and wakes up much worse. He eats o.k. but something wasn't right. I call my mom, and then proceed to spend Friday night in the ER. It got worse once we got to the hospital and he ended up having to get 2 breathing treatments, chest X-rays, and a dose of some kind of steroid to open his lungs. It ended up not being RSV or pneumonia, but some sort of "croup" virus that definitely could have gotten worse if I would have waited. Hudson was a trooper and seemed to enjoy the hospital. He even took a nap on his hospital bed, and tried to eat the resp. therapists hand. What a character!

Saturday: Slept through Friday night and is pretty exhausted today, but he is breathing completely normal. I hear babies are pretty resilient, and I believe it!

So that is our exciting week. This mommy needs to go for a jog or something! : )

Life.....These Days

Life is crazy isn't it? I know it is around the Pereira household. Hermann is right in the thick of baseball season, but it actually hasn't been that bad. He loves it, and I love to see him happy. School is on the downhill slope and Hermann and I are both ready for summer. Spring break was a big fat tease. Herm got a kayak over the break only to find out that our neighbor is willing to sell us 2 kayaks for the price we paid for just one. Soooo...if you (or you know someone) would like a a fishing kayak that is in good condition let us know. We've wanted kayaks since we lived in New Braunfels so we are pretty excited to be getting one for each of us. Things at the store in Palestine seem to be going well. I've made a little moolah, and the Dogwood Trails festival was this weekend. The store is closed on Monday, so we aren't sure how we did. I'll update you with that info asap. And of course last but not least, our little guy is doing just fine. I will say he is a bit high maintenance, but I just have to keep telling myself he's a baby. He decided this past week that he did not want to be a good eater. Seriously, it was like he woke up last Monday and thought to himself, "I don't think I'll finish any of my bottles today, or tomorrow...heck, why not the rest of the week!" He started spitting up a lot, and wouldn't let you stop in the middle of the feeding to burp him because then he wouldn't take the bottle back. I thought it might be thrush, but the dr. said that's gone. So he narrowed it down to teething, or reflux. The dr. decided not to treat for reflux right now unless it gets worse, because apparently they are supposed to grow out of it pretty soon. Oh, and Hudson currently weighs 16.8 pounds (90th percentile), and is 25 and a 1/2 inches (75th percentile). He's growing, he's happy, he's sleeping better....I think we'll keep him. So without further adeau, here are some recent pictures. happy Monday everyone!
